Bespoke Samurai Display Case Delivered in Three Weeks

Case Study
Finished bespoke display case with a clear acrylic hood on a dark anthracite plinth with a red company logo, protecting a gold samurai kabuto helmet display set in an office reception

Access Displays designed and delivered a bespoke display case for a samurai helmet and gloves, ready for a visit from the client company’s CEO from Japan. With only around three weeks from enquiry to delivery, the project needed a design that could be made quickly without compromising on quality or presentation.

Client requirements

The client needed a display case that would present the samurai helmet and gloves to a high standard for an important corporate visit. The base had to be finished in a specific dark anthracite rather than standard black, and the company logo needed to appear on the display. Above all, the case had to arrive on time.

Design solution

We reviewed the brief and proposed a bespoke design that we knew could realistically be made within the three-week lead time. The case combined a clear acrylic hood with a dark anthracite base, giving the items a clean, professional presentation.

We worked closely with the client to confirm every detail before production, checking the measurements, the base colour and the logo artwork, positioning and font. Getting this right at the start meant there was no time lost to changes later.

Overcoming production challenges

After the quotation was accepted, our cabinet maker was unable to source the acrylic hood in time. To protect the delivery date, we sourced the hood directly from one of our own suppliers and had it delivered to the cabinet maker so production could continue.

When the hood arrived, it was slightly smaller than the base. Instead of starting again, we worked with the cabinet maker to build the difference into the design. The result was a raised edge around the base, which solved the problem and gave the finished case a distinctive look.

The result

Despite the tight deadline and two unexpected production issues, the display case was completed and delivered on time. The samurai helmet and gloves were presented in a bespoke, professional display ready for the CEO’s visit, and the client was delighted with the finished case.

“Assistance with this short notice request really appreciated. Thank you also for triple checking the measurement, colourway and requirements as it all paid off and after receiving the cabinet we are all blown away, not only by the product and its presentation but equally to the purchase process and speed. Thank you for your support.”

Conclusion

This project shows how careful planning and practical problem-solving can deliver a high-quality bespoke display case on a short deadline. When issues came up, we found solutions that kept the project on schedule and improved the final design.
